Sedimentary rocks in Kodachrome Basin State Park in Utah.

Named by a 1948 National Geographic expedition for the vivid color film, this park protects 67 monolithic stone spires called sedimentary pipes, some nearly 170 feet tall. Red rock chimneys rise from a sagebrush basin ringed by multicolored cliffs, just 20 minutes from Bryce Canyon. Its campground and trail network make it a quieter base for exploring the Bryce/Grand Staircase area.
