An 8-mile paved road (plus dirt spurs) south from the historic Fruita orchards along the towering face of the Waterpocket Fold, ending near Capitol Gorge where you can walk between sheer canyon walls to the pioneer 'register.' It is the only fee area in Capitol Reef and packs cliffs, domes, and orchard history into a leisurely 90-minute outing.
